I thought they would look nicer. The picture is not high quality, or crisp and the white color around all the edges kinda ruins the over all look. The face of the ones I received were intact but the sides had a few chips in the ceramic. The stand it comes in is nice quality, however the round balls make it impossible to add felt pads or anything so that doesn't scratch some tables.I will be returning mine to purchase other coasters. For $25, for 4 coasters only, I expected more.

Cest une materiau dur (ceramique?) avec liege au dos. Ca nabsorbe pas. Cest pas du bois comme je le croyais, mais cest peut etre moi qui a confondu apres avoir regarder plusieur produits. Une des plaques avais perdu un eclat a larrive malgre un emballage honete. Cest tout de meme beau et ca protege la table!

These coasters are more than I expected. They are beautiful elegant and amazingly detailed. The quality is fantastic and I am so pleased I had to run to the phone just to post this review. They only arrived 5 minutes ago.

FRAUD ALERT: THESE ARE COUNTERFEIT. These stones are advertised as Thirstystone. (Thirstystone: Thirstystone Occasions Stoneware Drink Coasters with Holder, Includes Old World Map) They are a cheap reproduction. The stones arrived chipped and liquids run off the stone rather than soaking into the stone. The image is easily scratch off. I am returning them. It is a shame that so many counterfeit items are now for sale on Amazon. I really like the design of these. However, there is one major flaw. The top surface is painted - like glossy, completely sealed paint. This totally defeats the purpose of having absorbant sandstone. Water just builds up on top and is not absorbed at all. I thought about trying to gently scuff up the surface with a wire brush to make tiny holes through the paint down to the sandstone but I fear I may ruin the image or stone. Seems like they could fix this in manufacturing by painting with lower dpi I guess? Anyway, still like them but they're really more like a bathroom tile than a coaster!

This is a really lovely set of large coasters with a nice warm and rich cartography design printed on them. The holder is a bronze scroll design that holds the coasters perfectly. The holder has felt feet which will keep it from scratching surfaces. The coasters are backed with cork, and appear to be well made. The set arrived nicely packaged with no chips, scratches or any damage. I am very pleased with this, and would recommend it for personal use or as a gift.

These coasters were just what we were looking for to complete a world travel theme. They are a nice weight and the picture doesn't do the rich colors justice. The base is a good weight and hold the 4 coasters securely and without it 'traveling' over the tables surface.My only complaint is that one of the coasters had a slight chip in it when I unpacked them. Due to the excessive bubble wrap and 'air bags' the box contained, and the fact the chip was not in the packaging, this must have occurred at the place of origin; better quality control is a must when dealing with these kinds of items

I just received these and am so excited. I purchased them to go with my world map coffee table. I haven't tried them out too much yet so I can't speak for the absorbency, but they are very thick, nice and solid coasters.Shipping did take a long time, but they came 6 days sooner than the estimated date given to me at checkout, so that is a plus.

I have had sandstone coaster before and loved them because of the condensation they soak up, keeping the glass and table surface, clean. However, with these sandstone coasters, they don't soak up any of/much of the liquid. I believe...and I am speculating...that the problem lies with how they put the picture on...it blocks the sandstone from doing it's job. I would not by these again.

These are horrible coasters. I've ended up putting a rag between my glass and the coaster as the water pools ON the stone. The coasters came up with the glass then clattered to the floor, where they broke. I've got 3 of the 4 super-glued together now, with chips and missing pieces of the image. They looked pretty, but they're worse than useless.

The design on these are not as crisp or dark in person, as it shows in the product images and the lighter details shown in the product image are totally faded and almost impossible to see on the product in person. That being said, even faded, it's still a beautiful design and a good product! The coasters are heavier than I expected and the holder is really pretty! As long as you keep in mind it's not identical to the product images, I would recommend this product to anyone considering it.
