This is one of those tools that can cut your prep time in half. It’s lightweight, easy to travel with, takes up little room and in my opinion is safer than the larger heavier all steel contraptions out there.Mandolins are scary for a lot of people and I’ve seen lots of accidents. So... pay attention, use the hand guard on smaller pieces and trim your food to the right size before putting it on the mandolin and make sure the blade is sharp. Replace the blade if you don’t know how to sharpen it.

I’m a chef and the portable, light weight of this slicer is perfect for bringing a knife kit back and forth. The blade is crazy sharpe and you can adjust the size of the thickness which the last one I bought couldn’t. The hand guard is awesome, the only down side to it is it leaves behind about about half an inch of product that cannot be sliced. However, I recommend this product to anyone.

I bought this to test alongside the larger Super version. The Super was more than twice the volume, and living in an apartment with limited space, I highly value any storage. As such, I have decided to go with the regular version.One of the key characteristics of a mandolin is that you wanna make sure that the cutting surface remains flat as you push the vegetable through the blades. I can confirm that this mandoline, unlike others, it’s able to produce perfectly consistent, and evenly flat cuttings.Just take note, be extremely careful when handling this, do not watch YouTube videos while cooking your recipes, you want to pay full undivided attention when using this machine. Always use the finger guard, they provided it for a reason, to prevent a trip to the hospital.I like that they provided additional attachments, that allow you to create matchsticks and julienne cuts. Super helpful when trying to shred vegetables for salads or even deep fried fries.I deducted one star because the base didn’t have rubber feet, which may SLIP WHILE IN USE! Get the newer version, or use this with a wet towel underneath to prevent slipping.

I have a large mandoline. It is also extremely sharp. Neither this unit or my large mandoline have very good solutions for holding items to be sliced. I like the size of this mandoline and the fact that it can be hooked over the edge of a bowl. It will continue to be of greater use than the 4X more expensive unit.

I just got this and this morning I used it to make potatoes for my breakfast. I used the slicer with one of the attachments with teeth (don't know what they are called), and it worked fine. My less than stellar recommendation however comes from the fact that when I went to clean it there were bits of potato that had gotten up under the cutting blade and there's no easy way to clean this area - the blade is screwed in and is not easy to take out. Seems like a bit of a design flaw really - it would be better if the main blade came out easily too, which would make it much easier to get into those hard-to-reach spots. But otherwise it seems to work quite well.
